Companies partnering to bring a number of Yahoo services on Nokia's handsets

Yahoo has sent out an invite to select media publications regarding a joint announcement with Nokia on May 24. Kara Swisher, author at BoomTown blog of All Things Digital, pointed out that it might be an announcement of the Nokia-Yahoo collaboration to bring search, email and other applications pre-installed on select Nokia devices. This partnership has been codenamed as Project Nike.

Few Nokia S40 phones already have Yahoo Ready and Yahoo Go installed on them. Recently, Yahoo also struck a deal with Samsung to bring its mobile services on Samsung's Android and bada OS based devices.

It looks like Yahoo doesn't want to stay behind the rampaging rivals Google and Microsoft. Google has its own vast eco system on Android based devices and several other phones. Microsoft  has its Windows Mobile 6.5 and upcoming Windows Phone 7 platforms.

Just for the record, Project Nike has nothing to do with the sports brand.
